An article in The Guardian today (click here to read it) discusses the tie-up between Nickelodeon and Marriott to create 20 themed hotels together. The first is expected to open before 2010 in San Diego.
The article says the scheme is “believed to be a first for children’s television”.
Er….unless you count Nick Hotels, the scheme that Nickelodeon started with Holiday Inn and Brand Strategy wrote about in 2005. The Marriott initiative seems to stretch the same concept into new areas and on a global scale.
Good to see that Viacom is really working that brand experience trend…..although we’re not sure we’d want to spend a night with Spongebob’s eyes watching us. That’s probably because we’re not five years old, mind you….
