Orange RockCorps strikes a chord

We heard about this idea – Orange RockCorps – on a few internet messageboards. Surprisingly, we have not actually heard anything from Orange itself, which is a shame because it’s an interesting little concept and we’re about to rave about it…..

Basically, the idea is that you give a bit of time to your local community and in return, you get a ticket to a  gig at the Royal Albert Hall.

So who’s playing? You can see rapper Busta Rhymes and Guillemots (and we’ve seen the pics in the papers of Guillemots doing their bit for community service too…)

Obviously, this isn’t going to change the nature of the music industry; it’s just a nice little piece of corporate social responsibility. But we like it. Everybody wins…the acts play gigs packed with eager punters and know they’ve done something good for the world; the attendees get to see a gig and do something really important for the area where they live; and Orange gets to associate itself with music and do something fun for both consumers and the local community.

A nice idea…..in many ways.
