Google’s ideas for tomorrow – update

I wrote a while ago about Google’s “change the world” competition called ‘Project 10^100′ (pronounced Project 10 to the hundred), which is a call for ideas which will change the world through helping as many people as possible.

In order to take on this global challenge, Google was asking its 119,640,000 monthly unique users to send it exciting ideas for ways to improve people’s lives. Google has committed $10 million to the project and claims it will turn the five best ideas into reality.

Blog readers have asked for an update on how the competition is progressing. Well, sorry folks, but apparently Google have received more than 150,000 entries to the competition, which means that sorting through them and making sure each one gets fairly evaluated is taking a while.

But if you’re really keen to know how things are going, click here and you can sign up to get notification when voting on the entries begins. The public gets to vote on a shortlist of 100 and an expert panel helps pick five contenders that will receive funding and implementation.
